Christie Hoeksema, RGD

Web Developer

Christie is Compass Creative’s tri-lingual Web Developer — fluent in English, American Sign Language and HTML. Born deaf, she naturally gravitated toward a career in visual arts and excelled in both the Graphic Design Program at Mohawk College and the Web Design Program at Sheridan College.

Prior to joining our team, Christie spent the past 10 years designing for a variety of clients, from wineries to campgrounds, arborists and even a zoo! One of her favourites is the Deaf Millennial Project, a non-profit organization which provides biblical resources in American Sign Language for the Deaf community.

What drew her to Compass was the small, dedicated team. She loves working on high-quality projects and helping clients boost their businesses through branding.

Christie was born and raised in a small town called Fenwick (one of those small villages you can actually call a “hamlet”), and now lives in St. Catharines. When she’s not working, she loves to hike, hang out with her friends and is a self-professed Coddiwompler* (yes, it’s a real word) and collector of all things Lego.
